The first time you see it, the visual experience is utterly overwhelming. Unless you are incredibly observant, which I myself am not, you’ll need to see this film at least twice before you understand exactly what is happening. Mulholland Dr is my favorite film of all time by any director – I’ve seen it at least twenty-five times – but Inland Empire, which I’ve seen nearly twenty times, is quickly catching up. Others include Enlightened and Rambling Rose. This is one of many films and/or TV series where Laura Dern’s real-life mother, Diane Ladd, plays her mother’s (or mother figure’s) character. Lula and Sailor head westward across Texas in search of freedom Wild at Heart tells the story of Sailor Ripley and Lula Fortune as they take a very strange trip westward across the US in hopes of finding a better life, away from Lula’s extremely controlling mother, whose hatred for Sailor is intense and, at least for awhile, remains mysterious. Dune, in my humble opinion, is tough to sit through if you’re looking for a serious movie to watch. I love most of his films, although I have yet to make it all the way through Dune. If you visit my site often in the future you will most likely see more mention of David Lynch than anything else on this page.
